Drips in the rain.

Apparently Reiki Retard feels that my arse needs a good kicking. Knowing the car park proclivities of this person I suppose my arse would be lucky if this is all which he tried to give it.

Meanwhile, his sidekick BowelSting (appropriately enough) is shouting off it’s beak about reincarnation, supremely yet mistakenly confident that nobody has spotted that it is posting under the sock puppet identity of giggleFruitbat.

just so you know, gigglefruitbat isnt a sock puppet. they are however related to one another.

Thank you. I wonder why BowelSting posts under the identity of his Little Dropping, as he clearly does. I don't see how this is any different from sock puppetry.

Regarding my pithy comments, incidentally, it wouldn’t have been polite for me to reproduce messages which were published in a closed membership group but I wasn’t going to let that stop me having a good pith all over them.

i do know his daughter(s) and have met them, i also know that she is also a member of 'the other place' in her own right. that level of sockpuppetry is not something would associate with him. suffice to say, they are not the same person, however i granr it is possible if using the same pc they might have crossed log ins etc

Presumably said daughter is an adult, BBCPagans being a group only for people over the age of 18 as far as Yahoo are concerned.

What level of sock puppetry would you associate with BowelSting? To paraphrase, if it looks like an owl, and it looks exactly like an owl, then more likely than not it is an owl.

i presume so. i certainly didnt ask her age.

none, he doesnt strike me on the occassions we met and from posting on the beeb, to be type of person to create one. he i not to my mind a dishonest or dishonourable man.

Swift piece of back-pedalling, there. Personally, I wonder that a grown man who has posted under his own identity upon a particular message board for several years might suddenly forget his password and begin to post as his daughter.

Anyway, what about Fortey?

Lee said...

no, i meant if they are sharing a pc at home or something, he sits down, clicks on the BBC button and finds himself logged on as normal (a la 'remember me' tickbox) but it is actually still his daughter who is still logged on.

What about Fortey? 3 ddors away, not in often at the moment. very nice. ever so slightly dotty. the place is full of people like him - such as the very endearing yet alzheimer suffering Dick Jeffries.

That would be 'its beak', rather than 'it's beak'...

If we are being pedantic :)

I’m unconvinced, as BowelSting only ever posts from his place of work and unless he drags Little Dropping along with him for some strange reason then she wouldn’t be posting from the same machine. She’s a sock puppet.

There’s a reasonably interesting Fortey talk on The Natural History of Scientists over in the webstream archive of the Royal Society.

Next time you have occasion to speak with Fortey, if you find yourself in devilish mood then just happen to drop the name Simon Conway Morris and mention how much you enjoy his books. Whether you do enjoy them is neither here nor there but it would be interesting to know the range of colours which flash across Fortey’s face.

well, if its a sockpupet he has set it up on the yahoo group to which is a little odd, as that is a closed group of people from the Beeb.

anyway...

SCM - he has already come up in conversation in the tea room, generally a level of disbelief and disgust at his book 'life's Solution'. i did get it out from the library and am making slow progress on it, its to one side of the desk where it will probably stay as i have more important things to read.

From its first post Little Dropping has seemed a lot older than the child it is meant to portray. There have been several posts in which LD has referred to itself as a newbie or spoken from that perspective which are clearly those of a much older person. How many teenage girls, for example, refer to Watergate in casual discussion?

Nah. BowelSting’s taking you all for a ride. He cannot be certain that every member of the BBCPagans Yahoo group is someone with whom he may safely trust the knowledge of his sock puppet activities and so he does not make his duplicity common knowledge. I think it’s rather creepy to pretend to be one’s own daughter.

Onto the more pleasant topic of books. I have read Life‘s Solution and I recommend it to anyone with a serious interest in everything between morphogenesis, to take its most superficial reading, through to the ontology of abiogenesis. Its general thesis may safely be considered speculative but I think it’s logically sound and I look forward to its development by SCM or others, and I do not think that a development is impossible. It’s not memes. It’s not Sheldrake. It’s fairly solid, all said. It’s not coffee table reading, I would say, and does require some commitment to drive through some of the drier sections, but I think you’ll find it rewarding even if it is only to come up with reasonable refutations. The only attacks I have encountered against the book so far are those of that American idiot Myers who either lied when he said that he read it, didn’t understand it or was simply in the middle of one of his increasingly frequent fits of contrarianism. God does not figure in the work. As SCM says, evolution is true just as the sky is blue.

There are some excellent SCM podcasts knocking around. He’s actually quite an entertaining speaker.

Thanks for the information on Fortey’s books.

And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

Hello Eldred. Please get back to me at your earliest convenience with whatever is on your mind as you seem to have pasted some random quotes into the comments field in error.

Lee, please go easy on AmberLady. You are fellow travellers and she is right in what she says - not about every member of the BBC nor every member of the Yahoo group in question, true, and you may have some legitimate points of disagreement here and there but this is just politics and its pursuit wins you nothing.

Lee said...

give me until tomorrow some time and i will do a post on my blog about Amberlady explaining all. it probably deserves a post to itself rather then a comment.

I think, that your behaviour towards Oak King and Owlswing is appalling. I have seen absolutely no evidence to suggest, that Oak King acts out of a sense of self importance.

Have you no empathy?

Shame on you.

Friend Eldred, I did not say that said person acts out of a sense of self-importance but it’s interesting that you would think this. I would not discount it.

Meanwhile people have been known to tell fibs about their family members on The Pagan Topic and elsewhere. You will notice that giggleFruitbat U13040327 has ceased posting.

I felt that the comment about not getting angry at the perpetrator was particularly ironic. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

I have precious little of empathy and so I do not waste it upon fools.

It seems awfully self-important of you to cast shame on me, Eldred. Perhaps you should look in other directions, at those who are protesting loudly at the sins of others.

Your comments, as always, are welcome.
